In this recipe post, I am sharing a quick paneer sandwich recipe that can be made within 15 minutes.

You can make this paneer sandwich on Tawa/pan on the stovetop. No sandwich maker or toaster is required.

Paneer sandwich is made with paneer (cottage cheese), bread, chopped vegetables & spiced up with black pepper, salt & sauces.

My kids love these sandwiches. Paneer is a good source of protein & calcium for kids. This is why it is a tasty & healthy sandwich packed up with all the goodness of paneer & vegetables 🙂

    Here’s why this recipe works

    • You can make the sandwich within 15 minutes. Just assemble the ingredients & toast it.
    • No need to have a toaster or sandwich maker. You can make this sandwich on Tawa/pan on the stovetop.
    • To give it an Indian touch, I have added green chutney. The recipe to make green chutney is given in the recipe card notes. You can make the chutney in advance & store it.
    • You can substitute the green chutney with tomato sauce.
    • I have added the vegetables that were available in the kitchen. You can add any vegetables of your choice like boiled corn, peas, etc.
    • You can chop the vegetables for making the sandwich filling in advance (previous night). Do not add sauces & salt in it. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

How to make paneer sandwich on Tawa

    Preparations:

    1. Grate paneer, carrot, cabbage & capsicum. Keep it aside.
    2. Finely chop coriander leaves & ginger. Keep it aside.

    Making the paneer stuffing mixture:

    1. In a mixing bowl, add paneer (cottage cheese), carrot, cabbage, capsicum, coriander leaves & ginger.
    2. Add black pepper powder, salt, chili garlic sauce & tomato ketchup. Mix it well. Keep it aside.

    Making the tawa paneer sandwich

    1. Heat a tawa/pan over a medium-low flame.
    2. Take two bread slices & apply butter evenly on it.
    3. Put the stuffing on one of the bread slices.
    4. Apply green chutney on the other slice. step by step collage for spreading the sandwich filling
    5. Now place this slice with green chutney over the first slice.
    6. The sandwich is ready to fry.
    7. Apply butter on the top of the sandwich.step by step collage of applying green chutney

Toasting the paneer sandwich on tawa/pan

    1. Place the butter side of the sandwich facing the pan.
    2. Lower the flame & toast it for a minute.
    3. Gently press it while toasting. It will keep the sandwich intact.
    4. Now apply butter on the top of the sandwich.
    5. Flip it & fry on the other side until golden.step by step collage of frying the sandwich on tawa on stove top
    6. Take it out. Slice it.
    7. Serve hot & enjoy!Slice the paneer sandwich & serve

    Cooking Tips

    1. Apply butter on the slice while making the sandwich. Butter creates a barrier on the bread slice. It prevents the bread from becoming soggy when we spread wet sandwich filling.
    2. Use fresh paneer to make a sandwich. If using frozen paneer then thaw it & soak it in warm water before using it.
    3. Use store-bought Malai paneer to make this recipe.
    4. Keep the flame lowest when toasting the sandwich on Tawa or Pan. The sandwich will toast golden outside & the filling inside also gets cooked. If you cook it on high flame the filling inside will remain raw.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve the sandwich with tomato ketchup & green chutney.

You can pack the sandwich in your kid's lunch box with some fresh fruits & nuts. Or pair it up with some potato chips.
