    Ingredients & Substitutions

individually labelled ingredients to make cheesy chicken fritters recipe are laid out on a table.
    • Chicken - I have used medium-side boneless and skinless chicken breast. You can also use boneless chicken thighs. Mince the chicken or use store-bought minced chicken.
    • Flavoring - Salt and black pepper.
    • Onions & Garlic - Add onion powder and garlic powder to substitute fresh onion and garlic.
    • Red pepper flakes - You can skip them if you do not prefer spicy fritters or if you are making it for kids.
    • Italian seasoning - I love how beautifully it flavors the chicken fritters recipe. If you do not have it simply skip it. Or substitute it with ½ teaspoon thyme and ½ teaspoon oregano.
    • Corn flour - Alternatively, you can also use all-purpose flour (Maida). To make it a low-carb keto diet, simply substitute it with almond/coconut flour.
    • Parmesan cheese - Parmesan makes a crispy crust evenly on the fritters. You can substitute it with cheddar or mozzarella.
    • Eggs
    • Cilantro - You can substitute it with parsley or dill leaves.

    • Set it aside for 30 minutes.
    • Heat oil in a pan at medium-high heat.
    • Spoon out the chicken mixture and place it on the heated pan.
    • Gently tap it on top to flatten it a little.
    • Let it fry on medium heat until it is golden (may take 3-4 minutes).

Tips to Make the Best Chicken Fritters

    • Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
    • To make same-size fritters - Use an ice cream scoop or measuring cup to take out the fritter mixture.
    • Pan should be medium hot - While frying the fritters, make sure the pan is medium hot. If the pan is very hot (smoking hot), the fritters will get browned outside quickly but may remain uncooked inside.
    • Be careful while adding salt to the recipe. Cheese already has salt in it.
    • You can easily double the recipe.
    • The time to cook fritters depends on the size of the chicken pieces. If it is finely chopped then it will cook quickly. If the chicken pieces are big it will take more time.

    FAQs

Why are my chicken fritters soggy?

Too much moisture can make the fritters soggy. If the fritter batter is runny just increase the quantity of flour in the batter. If you are following the exact measurements as mentioned in the recipe then do not worry the batter will not be runny.

    Why are my fritters greasy?

If the oil is not hot enough and you place the batter on it, the fritters will be greasy. When you place the batter on hot oil it will immediately seal the outer crust making it crisp and less greasy. Also, when you take out the fritters after frying, make sure to drain off the excess oil.

What do you serve with chicken fritters?

You can serve it with Tomato sauce, Flavored Mayonnaise, or Greek Yogurt dip.

    Can I bake chicken fritters?

Yes, you can bake it. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Bake the fritters for 8-10 minutes. Flip it and bake on the other side until cooked.

    Serving Suggestion

    • Honestly, these cheesy chicken fritters are full-on flavors and you do not need any dip.
    • Or serve it with Garlic flavored Mayo.
    • Or combine ½ cup of mayo and ¼ cup of tomato ketchup.

    Storage suggestions

    • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Stays good for 3 days. Reheat in microwave and serve.
    • Fritters freeze well. Stays good for a month. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove-top before serving.
    • Store it within 2 hours of making the dish.

    Variations that you can try

    • Add some Greens - You can add broccoli or spinach to make healthy chicken fritters.
    • Make it low-carb keto - Simply substitute corn flour with almond/coconut flour.
    • Make a chicken sandwich - Stuff the prepared chicken fritters in bread or bun with tomato slices, onion slices, and lettuce leaves.
